Asian Ginger Beef & Broccoli

Fast, glossy and way more satisfying than takeout: tender beef, crisp broccoli and a ginger-kissed sauce that clings to every bite. It is the kind of skillet dinner that makes the rice cooker feel like the smartest appliance in the house.
Total Time 30 minutes
Servings: 4 servings
Course: Main Dishes

Ingredients

  • 1.25 pounds flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 tablespoons Ellbee's Garlic Olive Oil, divided
  • 2 teaspoons Ellbee's Original Gourmet Garlic
  • 4 cups broccoli florets
  • 0.25 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Ellbee's Honey Ginger Balsamic Vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar or honey
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, finely grated
  • 0.5 cup beef broth
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon cold water
  • 3 cups cooked rice, for serving
  • scallions and sesame seeds, for finishing

Method

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon Ellbee's Garlic Olive Oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Sear beef in batches so it browns rather than steams, then transfer to a plate.
  2. Add the remaining Garlic Olive Oil and broccoli. Stir-fry for 3 minutes, then add a splash of water, cover and steam for 2 minutes until crisp-tender.
  3. Whisk soy sauce, Ellbee's Honey Ginger Balsamic Vinegar, brown sugar, ginger, broth, Ellbee's Original Gourmet Garlic and the cornstarch slurry. Pour into the skillet and simmer until glossy.
  4. Return beef and accumulated juices to the pan, toss until coated and hot, then serve over rice with scallions and sesame seeds.

Notes

Time: 30 min
Kitchen tip: Slice the steak while it is very cold—it gives you thin, tender strips with almost no effort.
