Zesty Beer-Can Chicken
Ellbee’s Garlic Kitchen Box

Zesty Beer-Can Chicken

A whole chicken roasted upright over a little steam turns out incredibly juicy under a deeply bronzed, zesty-garlic skin. Sweet & Smoky garlic adds a barbecue note, and the result is a low-effort centerpiece that pulls apart beautifully for dinner, sandwiches and tomorrow’s chicken salad.

Method

  1. Heat grill for indirect medium heat, about 375°F. Rub chicken all over with Ellbee's Rosemary Olive Oil, Ellbee's Zesty Gourmet Garlic, Ellbee's Sweet & Smoky Gourmet Garlic, salt and pepper. Let stand 20 minutes.
  2. Set chicken upright on a sturdy beer-can chicken rack with the half-full can inside the cavity. Arrange onion, potatoes, lemon and rosemary around the rack.
  3. Grill over indirect heat with the lid closed until the thickest part of the thigh reaches 165°F, 70 to 85 minutes.
  4. Rest 15 minutes before carving. Spoon the pan juices over the chicken and potatoes.

Notes

Time: 100 min
Kitchen tip: If a beer-can rack is not your thing, roast the chicken over a vertical poultry roaster or simply roast it on a rack at 400°F until done.
